Urgent Care

Providing urgent care services during pet emergencies.

We are happy to provide urgent care services to the pets in our community, ensuring they receive prompt and compassionate care. To offer the best care for each patient, our urgent care services are on a triage basis.

We strive to see all patients as efficiently as possible. However, we recommend being prepared for potential wait times by bringing a phone charger, snack, and a book. We thank you for your understanding.

What to Expect When You Arrive

The information you provide will be crucial in treating your pet. Be prepared to answer questions such as:

  • Is your pet actively bleeding? If so, from where on their body?
  • Are they able to move?
  • Are there any open wounds or visible broken bones?
  • When did the incident happen?
  • Is your pet vomiting or experiencing diarrhea? For how long?
  • Has your pet been eating? Or has there been a change to their appetite?
  • Is there swelling? If so, where, and how fast is it increasing?

How to Transport Your Pet

If your pet is injured, they may be more aggressive and guarded than usual due to pain or fear. Here are some tips for safe transportation:

  • Cover your cat with a blanket before handling.
  • Carry large dogs on a flat, firm surface like a piece of plywood or board, or use a towel/hammock.
  • Contain cats and smaller dogs in a sturdy box or carrier.
  • If a back injury is suspected, minimize movement and place your pet on their side.

If you have questions about the best way to transport your pet to our hospital, please contact us before bringing them in.

How Urgent Care Differs from Regular Veterinary Care

Urgent care services address critical medical situations that require immediate attention but may not be life-threatening emergencies. Our experienced veterinary team is equipped to handle urgent medical conditions promptly, providing diagnostics, treatments, and supportive care tailored to your pet's needs. For immediate support during our operating hours, please call us at 613-634-2440. If your pet requires care outside of our hours, we recommend contacting the nearest 24-hour emergency vet.
